The Site

Hydes has recently acquired Bamford Hall, a Victorian mansion located 8 miles south east of Manchester, for development as an outstanding pub restaurant due to open in September 2008.

The site extends to over 3 acres, enjoys a stunning greenbelt location, and yet is within 10 minutes drive-time of over 100,000 people.

The History

Bluebell centreThe Hall was built in the mid 1870s by a wealthy local business man and was used as a private home until the early 1940s. During the second world war the hall was used as a hospital and offices for the local home guard.
After the war the house was sold to the Imperial Chemical Co. (ICI). They used the house as a hotel/guesthouse and conference centre until the mid 1980s. It was then sold to another local company and was used as offices and flats until the mid nineties.

The property then became empty and fell into disrepair. It was at this point that the Stanyer family bought the hall and decided to renovate it to its former glory, developing the Bluebell centre on its grounds as a café/restaurant and gift shop. Hydes purchased the site in March 2008.
